I was wondering the same thing myself.
I’ll be picking up the old man (flying in from Dallas) at the airport around noon on Monday. We’ll nosh and then bomb around the market, pioneer square, ride the SLUT, whatever.
But come around 4:00ish we’ll be looking to plant ourselves at a bar somewhere near the Paramount. And there are many…
Someone suggested that steakhouse with the dumbest name in the world. Looked like a great happy hour for sure.
Other suggestions:
- Dragonfish
- Vons
- Taphouse Grill
- Daily Grill
- Mortons Steakhouse
- Gordon Biersch
- Palamino
- Union Square Grill
- Fox Sports Grill
Some of these are on the expensive side, which makes the steak house with two first names a good choice as they appeared to have some reasonable happy hour options. And there’s nothing finer than the smell of cooking meat, right Teri?
Fox Sports Grill doesn’t look bad even though I don’t do sports and I especially don’t do Fox… But I have only one requirement -- wet drinks…

NO Cheeseball factory. Please.
Other suggestions?
Oh, and the same thing goes for Tuesday! I’m taking both days off. I just resigned from my job today so I don’t give a damn! YEE HAAA!!!!

dang, why didn't they announce these dates sooner?
i can't go. i already have a pedicure scheduled for
thursday & brain surgery for friday. fuck!
but seriously folks, hope i meet someone nice there.
i am SO sick of this bunch of gauchos & charmers i
hang out with locally. i mean, all they talk about is
steely dan, steely dan, steely dan... i'm going to get
very bored of all that in 50 or 60 years, you know
what i'm sayin?
of course, the actual seating capacity at the winery
is a number protected by primary provisions of the
patriot act, so make sure you buy 5 or 6 seats, just
to make sure. also, you want a buffer around you
so none of those spooks sit down next to you. you
can sometimes fool them by wearing super-dark
wraparound shades, but if they're wearing their super-
sensitive retina-reading goggles, you are toast. on
second thought, maybe you'd just better take your
chances with general admission seats.
am i psyched? does the pope shit? yes, i'm psyched!
i can only echo what everyone else has said so far
about the venue, except to add the peacocks strol-
ling on the lawn. they might have to hide the birds on
concert day, lest they be mistaken for technicolor
motorhomes by the danned.
i was hoping i could reach the venue via bus; there
are some that come dangerously close to there. but
apparently it can't be done.
however, for those who are interested in adventure,
it is possible to take a luxury sound transit bus to a
park&ride, then take a cab to & fro. the winery ac-
tually has cabs standing by in the parking lot for this
very thing. if anyone wanted to consider this, i'd be
on board.
of course, pat, this place is like, what, 50 feet from
your front door? lucky!!!
as to danfests, camping, etc.-- i would be more than
happy to offer overnight accommodations to anyone
who either a) doesn't have motel money, b) can't fig-
ure out how to get from the airport to anyplace (easy
to get to my place from seatac, just one bus & a
super-delux one at that), c) is way too drunk to navi-
gate from house to house, but is pretty sure he/she
can navigate from sleeping bag to bathroom, d) is
way too drunk to get from point A to sue's & dave's,
e) is arriving by freight to save money, f) is a cheap-
skate of the highest order, g) is afraid of geoducks,
h) enjoys sleeping in the buff (by buff, i mean the foli-
age in the backyard) &/or g) can't get enough of me.
mind you, this would be completely rustic--couch or
sleeping bags, inside or out, "deli food from the
safeway store across the street & simple fare scram-
bled up for breakfast, plus coffee, by me, that kind of
stuff. anyone who's visited me before knows the
neighborhood i live in, but i've moved about 20 blocks
southwest of my old digs, much nicer.
so, shutup diane, & the rest of you follow these links,
if you wish.
p.s.-- as you noted, hoops, the mailing list is in the
throes of something. in my inbox they are threaded
out of order. unless one signs one's post, i can't tell
who is writing what.
