[ SUE--I OWE YOU A PHONE CALL! Sorry!]

Here's what I know about the NYC Danfests:

A big hand to everyone but especially Bill B/ Gus Winterbottom.

Bill B. aka Gus Winterbottom on the Blue has the intent that the
Amsterdam Ale House will be the pre-show gathering place. Gus been
in touch with the Amsterdam Ale House at least a couple of weeks ago.
A giant full-color Danfest Banner has been made that will be hung up
at the Amsterdam Ale House. It is about 3 feet by 5 feet and is the
blue/yellow/green image of the two agents and the babes by the car at
the top of the Danfest page at http://www.dandom.com/danfests The
banner will be hung in a area of the Ale House from 9/14 to 9/23 to
flag people.

Post-Show this Saturday 9/17, Pete Fogel has that amazing gig
happening at the Bitter End this Saturday.
Miss V. and I will be in NYC this Friday and Saturday. We're
attending the Saturday show--and looking forward to seeing many of
you. We plan to hang out at the Ale House --- whoever is hosting --
and also will be at the Bitter End but not too late since we have an
early morning flight back to Chicago.

I've been lying low on the Danfests front this year. Historically,
the idea with the Danfests email lists is to use the lists as a
central organizing point to build a concensus. There's over 150
people on this list alone for NYC. Chicago had about 130. In the
past, SD has liked the lists enough to publicize them in the official
SD newsletter. We hard core types are kinda like the ambassadors of
Dandom.

This year it's all over the map with people hanging privately hanging
among the 3-4 of themselves and the loke or starting private yahoo
and facebook groups, etc.. Kinda like herding cats which I'm
avoiding. I know for Chicago I stepped back so others would have a
chance to organize and nothing happened--as far as I know. All I saw
was Toya at one Chicago show.

All that said, Looking forward to Saturday because it will seem
like old times when it was good.

Best wishes,

Jim
