5 of us are flying from Winnipeg Manitoba Canada to see the dan perform at
the beacon theatre. Now it appears that we may need another ticket. Looked
at all the scalpers sites such as stub hub and tickets fast etc and cant
find a single seat-of course everybody wants to sell them in pairs at least.
Can anybody in this community of worshippers help?

Aja evening is by far the most popular. While you can still find
single seats to the other shows in the first 10 - 15 rows, searches
for tickets to Aja puts you in the balcony section.

No it was just 1 ticket I was trying to sell and now my buddy has backed out
at crunch time so we are good with the 5 we have. Stubhub has 2 in orchestra
2 row Q for $560 usd which is the best I have found today

Just a reminder...and please this is directed at the many great 
intentions of more than a few here.

One huge reason this list was started was to tell scalpers and ticket 
agencies -- including the likes of Stub Hub -- to go F%&K themselves.

We are fans and we have to compete with these places which have no 
other purpose than to compete with us so we (as in the collective 
"we")  have to buy tickets at high prices.  Even fr igg in' ticket 
master does it although they do guarantee the legitimacy of tickets.

A shi tty thing that happened at Indy was that I bought the ticket of 
someone who was at the Danfest.  But not directly.  The  thing 
was,the person at the Danfest sold the ticket to a scalper and then 
since all the tickets were sold to scalpers I had no choice but to 
buy (only for the second time in my life) the same Danfan's ticket 
via a scalper at something like 50% mark up.

No you may balk at my having this one of few requirements--but it's 
one of three reasons I go to the trouble.  F&% the system.  BTW:  I 
would spell out F  * u * c * k but some people's spam filters bounce 
the mail back when it it uses the actual word.

Let's help each other--not the scalpers.  People are slowly 
surrendering the internet to moneyed concerns.

So sorry-I totally get what u r saying and I could not agree more-I have
never paid more than face value  for a ticket and I go to a concert every
month. Lot of scum in that business for sure. We just go the jets back in
the nhl and u would not believe how many inflated ticket requests have
materialized. People offering to pay a grand for opening night etc. lets
hope aja is a grand night and we can all be there and face the music

OK Jim, I'm checking a couple of times a  day so if I find a couple of
OK tickets for 9/17 one is yours. Just give me a letter; a seat behind
row [whatever] is a no-no.
I have hopes of finding a ticket somewhere in the first 15 rows (AA-K)
and in the centre section. OK? (Yesterday Ticketmaster coughed up a
single seat in row L center, but I let it go. May live to regret it,
but...)

I plan on catching four shows the week I'm in New York; 9/17, 9/19,
9/22 and 9/23. Already have tickets for the 22 & 23.

You're not sure about 9/16? I'll let you know if I come across any good seat.

Will bring some Swedish surprises to the Hotel Amsterdam pub
(suggested place for WingDings/Danfests).

As much as I look forward to seeing the band at The Beacon Theatre for
the first time. And second ... and third ... and fourth, I also look
forward to seeing some of the fans I've "met" online since I - new on
this here thing called Internet - first stumbled upon the Dandom
Digest and dandom.com in the earliy 1990's. Yep, it really is that
long ago.

Looking forward to putting some faces to those names/signatures and
say "hi" to any newcomers.

I am sure quite a few subscribed to this list can tell some stories of
previous pre- and post-show meet-ups. I've been to a handful of
concerts and having a chance to meet another Steely Dan fan has added
to the whole experience. Trust me.

But first things first. If we agree on a place and time whatever else
we put into the Danfest will be a bonus. The place should be large
enough for a small/not-so-small number of fans to sit down, have
something to eat/drink and talk Steely Dan and whatever. Maybe even a
place friendly enough to let us play some suitable music over the
speakers. That what was happened at a DanFest in Stockholm Sweden
years ago. They liked what they heard and we ended up leaving the
Steely Dan CD:s behind for other non-fans at the restaurant to enjoy.

But i digress...

The place should be easy to find and not too far from in this case
Beacon Theatre. Now, I don't know my way around New York, but on the
Facebook Danfests page Amsterdam Ale House has been mentioned. If I
understand it correctly it has been the site for previous NY meetups?

Hey gunnar the place looks fab-we got tix to the Yankees game @ 1pm-for $5.
tix were regular $68 but the Yankees have a special promo twice a year and
this game happens to be one of them. They still have some in secs 327 and
311 I believe. We will head to Amsterdam from there. I'll be the one in dark
sunglasses

As much as I look forward to seeing the band at The Beacon Theatre for
the first time. And second ... and third ... and fourth, I also look
forward to seeing some of the fans I've "met" online since I - new on
this here thing called Internet - first stumbled upon the Dandom
Digest and dandom.com in the earliy 1990's. Yep, it really is that
long ago.

Looking forward to putting some faces to those names/signatures and
say "hi" to any newcomers.

I am sure quite a few subscribed to this list can tell some stories of
previous pre- and post-show meet-ups. I've been to a handful of
concerts and having a chance to meet another Steely Dan fan has added
to the whole experience. Trust me.

But first things first. If we agree on a place and time whatever else
we put into the Danfest will be a bonus. The place should be large
enough for a small/not-so-small number of fans to sit down, have
something to eat/drink and talk Steely Dan and whatever. Maybe even a
place friendly enough to let us play some suitable music over the
speakers. That what was happened at a DanFest in Stockholm Sweden
years ago. They liked what they heard and we ended up leaving the
Steely Dan CD:s behind for other non-fans at the restaurant to enjoy.

But i digress...

The place should be easy to find and not too far from in this case
Beacon Theatre. Now, I don't know my way around New York, but on the
Facebook Danfests page Amsterdam Ale House has been mentioned. If I
understand it correctly it has been the site for previous NY meetups?

We are more into blues than jazz-probably hit the garage restaurant in
Greenwich village sunday for live jazz brunch and all the bloody marys u can
drink in an hr. disappointed that bb king's Sunday nite act is not bluesy so
we are definitely on the prowl for that. The blues calendar only updated to
sept 5 right now so waiting for that. Anybody know any good blues bars on
the upper west side or theatre district

Amsterdam ale house seems perfect for a meet-up before all the shows.  I'm
attending all seven that means I got a lot of spare time on my hands and
some of you got baseball tickets, I myself have got a ticket to a Mets game
on the 15th.  I also hope to get me a Jets ticket on the 18th.

Look out for a short, slightly overweigt, bald with a little beard.  That
will probably be me.

Randy; No problems. Ticketmaster shows single tickets for both shows
as late as yesterday.
Aja-nite is the only one that is sold-out (at Ticketmaster).

So I was listening a bit to saron Crenshaw, jr mack and jerry dugger and
they were all fantastic individually and they are ? of the house band after
the concert (aja). I wonder about the logistics of getting there since I
don?t know nyc at all. Sh0uld the subway be safe enough? How long would it
take? Would u need advance tickets. What a way to top off the evening I
think!

Bleecker Street is awash with people up until 3 AM at least...many times later...sunrise with coffee in Washington Square is serene...

Subways are safe, period...also numerous cabs looking for late nite fares...

Don't know where you're coming from geography wise, but from the Beacon to Bleecker is an easy fare, subway...
Entrance fees at Terra are rarely more than $10...

Also, I imagine Mr. Fogel will have something Dannish at the BE...

Hey Jeff - I know you said you're not much of a Jazz guy - but you might
want to do a search on Scott Henderson. One of the finest Blues albums I've
ever heard he did many years ago, and the theme was based around Dogs. Some
the titles were hysterical, and the music was phenomenal.

So I was listening a bit to saron
Crenshaw, jr mack and jerry dugger and they were all fantastic individually and
they are ? of the house band after the concert (aja). I wonder about the
logistics of getting there since I don?t know nyc at all. Sh0uld the subway be
safe enough? How long would it take? Would u need advance tickets. What a way
to top off the evening I think!

Bleecker Street is awash with people up until 3 AM at least
many times
later
sunrise with coffee in Washington Square is serene


 

Subways are safe, period
also numerous cabs looking for late nite fares


 

Don?t know where you?re coming from geography wise, but from the Beacon to
Bleecker is an easy fare, subway


Entrance fees at Terra are rarely more than $10


 

Also, I imagine Mr. Fogel will have something Dannish at the BE

Next door to the bitter end? And u came out unscathed? Sounds scary!

 

So I was listening a bit to saron Crenshaw, jr mack and jerry dugger and
they were all fantastic individually and they are ? of the house band after
the concert (aja). I wonder about the logistics of getting there since I
don?t know nyc at all. Sh0uld the subway be safe enough? How long would it
take? Would u need advance tickets. What a way to top off the evening I
think!

Hey Jeff - I know you said you're not much of a Jazz guy - but you might
want to do a search on Scott Henderson. One of the finest Blues albums I've
ever heard he did many years ago, and the theme was based around Dogs. Some
the titles were hysterical, and the music was phenomenal.
Just a thought.

Jeff, here in Sweden as well as Norway, Finland, Iceland, Faroe
Islands and Denmark we call Danishes "Wienerbr?d" (bread from Vienna),
but they are just as good 'n fattening 24/7!

Here's a little known fact regarding Danishes:
In Vienna/Austria the name is ... wait for it!  "Kopenhagener Geb?ck"
(Copenhagen pastry)!

As you can see this is a much too complicated pastry to bring to a
Danfest. I have to come up with something else :)

For those of you coming in for the Sept 17 Steely Dan show at the Beacon Theater. We are having an after party for the fans at The Bitter End in Greenwich Village. The band for the after party is Lawrence "L*A*W" Worrell. Law plays in George Clinton's 420 Funk Mob and also was in Amy Winehouse's band before her recent passing. After The Bitter End show, we will continue the party at The Peculiar Pub which is right next door to The Bitter End.

When they ask you at the door who you're there to see, mention "Steely Dan After Party" and it's only a $5 charge. The $5 charge will also include admission to the Peculiar Pub.

Everyone, 

Earlier today I called the Amsterdam Ale House for some additional info. The capacity is about 150. They do have a full bar for those who desire "a pool of margaritas", or something else stronger than beer. They usually get a lot of Beacon-related business; the manager I spoke with specifically mentioned patrons of shows by The Allman Brothers Band. 

This establishment seems like a good place for Danfests, but I am not sure if any of the local fans who know the area better have commented yet. So are there any other ideas, or do we proceed with The Amsterdam Ale House?

We've used the Amsterdam Ale House for Danfests the last couple of tours.? The food is really good and it's a short distance to the Beacon.? I would let them know what dates and approx. how many.? There is also a Danfest page on Facebook as well.? Looking forward to 21ST Century Dan on Sept.23!

Possibility for our 1st nite in nyc to ck out the bitter end to get into
that danfest mood-can also take a peek next door at terra blues which is
where I want to go 1st after the concert on Monday nite then continue to the

I'm no authority, but I've been at Amsterdam Ale House for Danfests 
in years past and it worked well - they have a back room that's apart 
from the more jostling bar area, and apparently they were fine with 
setting tables aside for the group.

Granted, they weren't the best seats in the house, but they were tickets
